Robert Pattinson recently shared his apprehension towards taking on film projects where he can't fully invest himself.

In a conversation with comedian Jordan Firstman for Interview magazine, the actor admitted, "I have a profound fear of humiliation." Firstman, known for his role in "Rotting in the Sun," inquired whether Pattinson had ever been involved in projects he wasn't genuinely passionate about.

To this, the star of "The Batman" responded, saying, "Not really," attributing it to his fear. He elaborated, "You're aware that it ultimately comes down to you. You can criticize the script or the director, but ultimately, nobody will be concerned with the reasons. You're the one who'll bear the brunt of the criticism. And even when you've given it your all, a majority will still label you as inadequate."

The Twilight actor also shared his perspective on the challenge of finding one's place in society. He expressed, "I often ponder that a significant portion of life might be spent grappling with unemployment, feeling desperate, and wrestling with a sense of inadequacy." He added, "I believe that's just the nature of existence."

Pattinson has previously opened up about his concerns regarding the longevity of his career. He explained, "The issue I encountered was that, no matter how much I cherished the [indie] projects I was involved in, they went largely unnoticed," he revealed in a 2020 interview with GQ. "This can be quite daunting because I'm unsure of how sustainable this is as a profession... I'm uncertain how many industry insiders are willing to support you when there's little to no commercial appeal."

Nevertheless, Pattinson appears to have struck a balance between major blockbusters and independent ventures in recent times. He took on leading roles in The Batman and its upcoming sequel, all while exploring less conventional projects like Tenet and The Lighthouse.
