In January, the singer of "Ex's & Oh's" received criticism for performing at the Grand Ole Opry while under the influence.

"Dolly Parton has already granted forgiveness to Elle King for her performance tribute, even labeling it as the sole stamp of approval the young singer requires."

After enduring a month of scrutiny for her perceived intoxication during a January concert dedicated to the iconic country legend, King has finally spoken out, expressing gratitude to both supportive and critical voices.

"In response to those showering me with love for my humanity and my conversation with Dolly, I extend my gratitude. And to those who've expressed hate, I offer love in return."

The video depicts her running up the stadium stairs with the caption, "Was my human side showing?" followed by the hashtag WWDD, meaning "What Would Dolly Do?"

Although King didn't elaborate on the specifics of her conversation with Parton, the "9 to 5" singer has already expressed her support, encouraging fans to choose forgiveness.

"In a February interview with Extra, Parton expressed, 'Elle is undeniably a remarkable artist. She's a wonderful individual who's been facing considerable challenges lately. We should overlook her recent indiscretion with excessive drinking and move forward, as she's already punishing herself more than anyone else ever could.'"

The January tribute concert at the Grand Ole Opry celebrated Parton’s birthday, showcasing numerous artists covering her hits. During the event, King performed "Marry Me" but struggled to recall the lyrics. Online videos captured her speech slurring and using coarse language, jokingly remarking, “Y’all bought tickets for this? You ain’t getting your money back. Hi, I’m Elle King, and I’m a little tipsy.”

The location promptly apologized for her conduct, sparking significant online criticism. This reaction was amplified as King had recently faced similar backlash for appearing intoxicated and slurring her words during a performance at New Year's Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash. Just before singing her song “Drunk (And I Don’t Want to Go Home),” King reassured the audience, saying, "It's okay, I live what I sing, y'all."

The king delayed numerous concerts following her Opry performance and rearranged them for later this year. After returning to the stage, she made a comeback on social media, posting backstage photos and preparing for her upcoming shows.

"Oops, there she is," King captioned her first post upon returning.
