Wahlberg shares his life with four dogs, one of whom is his co-star in his latest film.

Mark Wahlberg shares his home with a quartet of dogs, one of which he stars alongside in his upcoming film, Arthur the King. However, despite his evident affection for dogs, being around them isn't always easy for the Boogie Nights actor.

"In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Wahlberg admitted, "I have four dogs, despite being allergic to them." He shared that he takes medication daily to manage his allergies, even sneezing through the conversation."

Despite his allergies, he shares the screen with Ukai, a mixed breed dog, in the film hitting theaters this Friday. Inspired by real events, the movie tells the tale of Mikael Lindnord, an adventure racer who forms a bond with a stray dog in Ecuador, becoming his loyal racing partner.

"Working with animals on screen, Wahlberg acknowledges, 'You have to accept that the dog might steal the show a bit. He's really talented at his job.'"

"Wahlberg has openly praised his costar, even disclosing a recent attempt to adopt the dog on set, which was declined by Ukai's trainer."

"In February, he confessed to PEOPLE, 'I attempted to bribe the trainer to sell me the dog. I offered her anything she desired. However, the bond between them was unbreakable. I simply couldn't resist falling in love with him.'"

"He often finds himself surrounded by dogs despite his allergy, which he attributes partly to having four kids at home. All of them have developed a fondness for Ukai, he revealed to PEOPLE magazine."

"Although he's not the primary caretaker for the pups at home, the responsibility lies with someone else. According to him, it's his daughter Grace who holds the reins, as she possesses the ability to manage them effectively. With her natural affinity for animals, she assumes the role of authority within the household."
