Even Slimer makes a special appearance!

When it was time for Jimmy Fallon and the Roots to deliver their uproarious new take on the Ghostbusters theme song, they had the perfect team in mind.

During Friday's episode, the host of The Tonight Show, along with his band, collaborated with singer Ray Parker Jr., joined by none other than the original Ghostbusters Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson. Together, they performed the 1984 hit using only miniature classroom instruments. Dressed in personalized jumpsuits, they rocked out in a neon green ectoplasm-encrusted room, creating a memorable performance.

The ensemble commenced their performance by delving into the eerie introduction of the track, shrouded in darkness while alarms flashed in the background. As the song surged forward, illumination flooded the stage, unveiling Fallon skillfully playing the kazoo and striking a woodblock, Parker deftly handling the triangle, Murray joining in with another kazoo, and Hudson adding the rhythmic pulse with a cowbell. Accompanied by members of the Roots, the ensemble expanded their sonic palette with the xylophone, bongos, melodica, ukulele, tambourine, and an array of other instruments, creating an eclectic and captivating musical experience.

Although Parker primarily led the rendition of the theme, the team frequently joined in with iconic lyrics such as "Bustin' makes me feel good!" and enthusiastically shouted "Ghostbusters!" during the call-and-response chorus.

At the conclusion of their act, the beloved ghostly figure, Slimer, delighted the audience with a brief appearance. Emerging behind the band, Slimer dashed towards the screen, enveloping it completely in vibrant green ectoplasm.

Murray and Hudson are gearing up to suit up as Ghostbusters once more in the highly anticipated movie Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Continuing from the events of 2021's Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the original team joins forces with a fresh squad consisting of Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, and Paul Rudd. Together, they confront a malevolent spirit intent on plunging the world into a new ice age.
