Johnny Wactor, a former actor on "General Hospital," tragically lost his life in downtown Los Angeles while intervening in a catalytic converter theft, as confirmed by his family on Sunday.

The incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on Saturday near West Pico Boulevard and South Hope Street. According to LAPD investigators, three individuals were attempting to steal a catalytic converter when Johnny, the owner of the vehicle, confronted them.

Scarlett Wactor informed ABC7 that her 37-year-old son had just finished his shift at a rooftop bar downtown and was walking with a coworker when they noticed suspicious activity around his car.

According to her, at first, he assumed his car was being towed and went up to inquire. However, when the individual glanced up, masked, they suddenly began shooting. Police report three suspects fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Paramedics rushed Wactor to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Wactor, known for his portrayal of Brando Corbin on the ABC soap opera from 2020 to 2022, featured in over 160 episodes before the character's departure from the show.

On Sunday, General Hospital released a statement expressing profound sadness at the untimely passing of Johnny Wactor. The General Hospital community mourns the loss of a remarkable individual who was cherished for his unique character and exemplary professionalism. Our deepest sympathies are extended to his family and loved ones as they navigate this challenging period.

Wactor's talent extended beyond General Hospital, gracing various films and television series including "Station 19," "NCIS," "Westworld," and the video game "Call of Duty: Vanguard."

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Wactor's Instagram showcases his passion for outdoor activities such as rock climbing and rodeo, reflecting his vibrant spirit and adventurous nature.

Condolences flooded in from individuals who had the privilege of knowing and collaborating with Wactor.
