Nicolas Cage to Star in Newly Announced Spider-Man Series

Nicolas Cage is slated to take the lead in Spider-Man Noir, an upcoming live-action series bound for streaming on both MGM+ and Amazon Prime Video.

The announcement came from MGM Studios on Tuesday, as reported by Variety. Development on the series commenced in February 2023.

Interestingly, Nicolas Cage wasn't initially part of the series when development began.

Vernon Sanders of Amazon MGM Studios expressed excitement about the expansion of the Marvel universe through Spider-Man Noir, emphasizing its significance as a unique opportunity.

"The highly skilled Nicolas Cage is the perfect fit for our upcoming superhero role, supported by an accomplished production team including Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Amy Pascal, and the exceptional Sony team. They are committed to authentically expanding this franchise," he stated.

Cage previously voiced Spider-Man Noir in the animated film "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," marking his live-action debut as the character.

"The official synopsis for 'Noir' reads, 'In 1930s New York, an aging private investigator (played by Cage) finds himself confronting his past life as the city's lone superhero, while struggling with his current dire circumstances.'

Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot serve as co-showrunners for the series, accompanied by executive producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal.

The production of 'Noir' is a collaboration between Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.

Sony has previously brought to screen live-action hits like 'Venom' and its sequel 'Let There Be Carnage,' both starring Tom Hardy, as well as 'Morbius' with Jared Leto, and 'Madame Web' featuring Dakota Johnson."

"Nicolas Cage's involvement in this series is truly exhilarating! His ability to infuse depth, emotion, and authenticity into this distinctive character is unparalleled," expressed Katherine Pope of Sony with enthusiasm.
