Princess Anne attends WWI soldier burial at Loos Cemetery, France

Buckingham Palace has released a deeply sorrowful statement ahead of King Charles's highly anticipated international tour.

On September 26, the royal family honored the emotional anniversary of the Battle of Loos, a significant WWI event that occurred in 1915.

Princess Anne delivered a heartfelt tribute to two fallen soldiers from the First World War, whose remains were recently found and laid to rest in Loos-en-Gohelle, France.

A Palace spokesperson shared images of King Charles's sister attending the solemn ceremony.

The official statement from Buckingham Palace read: "Today, The Princess Royal witnessed the burial of two First World War soldiers who lost their lives during the Battle of Loos in 1915."

"The burials marked the opening of a new extension to the Loos British Cemetery in Northern France. The cemetery will now serve as a dignified final resting place for the casualties—most of whom belonged to Scottish regiments—whose bodies were uncovered during recent construction."

"Her Royal Highness, the President of @commonwealthwargraves, was accompanied by soldiers from the Royal Regiment of Scotland."

This statement comes just before King Charles embarks on his October tour of Australia and Samoa. The monarch will also attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa, a key international event.
