Lizzie Cundy Criticizes Meghan Markle for Prioritizing 'Publicity Over Charity' at LA Event
Lizzie Cundy, 56, has openly criticized Meghan Markle, accusing the Duchess of Sussex of prioritizing publicity over charity during her appearance at the LA Children’s Hospital Gala last weekend. According to Cundy, who was present at the event, Meghan seemed more interested in the attention she received than in contributing to the cause.
Cundy and Markle once shared a friendly relationship after meeting at a charity event in 2013. However, their dynamic has since soured, with Cundy now frequently vocal in her criticism of the Duchess. Speaking to Nana Akua on GB News, Cundy stated their recent encounter at the gala left no room for reconciliation.
“She looked like she’d swallowed a wasp,” Cundy remarked sarcastically, referencing Meghan’s facial expressions during the event.
Cundy went on to describe the high-profile nature of the gala, noting the attendance of Hollywood elites such as Jamie Lee Curtis. She recalled being on the red carpet when Meghan arrived, wearing a similar—though far more expensive—dress.
“Everyone was shocked,” Cundy said. “I was hoping she’d make a speech for the charity, but it seemed she was there for the photo-op.”
According to Cundy, Meghan’s brief appearance left a negative impression. At one point, a fan requested a selfie, and Meghan’s reaction was “like she’d swallowed a wasp,” Cundy said.
“She needs LA, but LA has had enough of her,” Cundy continued. “She’s overdone it.”
Cundy's harsh remarks didn’t stop there. She accused Meghan of making the event about herself, rather than focusing on the charity’s cause of supporting children’s healthcare.
“The other stars were gracious,” Cundy added. “It’s a shame Meghan can’t follow their example.”
Cundy also mentioned that Meghan had “ghosted” her after becoming engaged to Prince Harry, cutting off all contact.
“She’s ghosted a lot of people, not just me,” Cundy remarked, adding that Meghan’s family has experienced the same treatment.
During the event, Meghan was seen on the red carpet alongside Kelly McKee Zajfen, co-founder of the Alliance of Moms. She also warmly greeted healthcare leader Paul Viviano with a hug after posing for photos with Zajfen.
