The highly anticipated biopic on Michael Jackson, titled Michael, has seen a six-month delay, pushing its release from April 18, 2025, to October 3, 2025, as announced by Lionsgate. This shift was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday.
Taking on the role of the legendary King of Pop is Jackson’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson. Alongside him, Colman Domingo and Nia Long are set to portray Jackson's parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson. The ensemble cast includes Miles Teller, Laura Harrier, Kat Graham, Larenz Tate, and Jessica Sula.
Michael promises a comprehensive look at Jackson’s life, his rise to fame, and his challenging legal encounters. The film will cover significant events, such as the 1993 settlement related to child abuse allegations and his 2005 Santa Barbara trial, where he faced further accusations but was acquitted.
“This will likely be our biggest release yet,” stated Lionsgate’s president of worldwide television distribution, Jim Packer, during the Gabelli Media & Entertainment Symposium. “The excitement generated with each promotional release is incredible.”
