Karen Spencer, Countess Spencer, has officially bid farewell to Althorp after 13 years, closing a significant chapter at the historic estate she once called home.

The Canadian-born social entrepreneur, who wed Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer, in 2011, played a crucial role in the restoration of the 500-year-old property—renowned as Princess Diana’s childhood home and final resting place.

However, her time at Althorp was far from smooth.

Following the couple’s June 2024 divorce announcement—reportedly linked to the Earl’s relationship with archaeologist Professor Cat Jarman—Karen, 52, confirmed via Instagram that she had moved out.

Posting a heartfelt photo of her sheep, Lucky and Minty, she shared, "Well… at long last, three weeks ago, we finally moved into our temporary new home."

While Karen embarks on a new journey, sources close to Althorp suggest that her departure has been met with quiet relief among staff, who allegedly viewed her time at the estate as tumultuous, according to Mirror.

As Althorp transitions into a new era, speculation grows over what’s next for both the estate and the former countess as she steps beyond its storied gates.
