The Houston Dash announced a significant trade with San Diego Wave FC. In exchange for forward María Sánchez, the Dash secured $500,000 in funds along with an international roster spot for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. This deal includes $300,000 in Intra-League Transfer Funds and $200,000 in Allocation Money for Houston.

Sánchez embarked on her journey with the Houston Dash through a short-term loan in 2021, officially joining the team for the 2022 season. Transitioning into a long-term commitment, she penned a contract extension in December 2023 during the onset of the free agency period. With her consistent presence on the field, the 28-year-old showcased her prowess in 62 matches across various competitions, netting eight goals and delivering 14 assists for the team. Her dedication was evident as she featured in all four of Houston’s games in the current season.

Prior to her tenure with the Dash, Sánchez commenced her professional career with the Chicago Red Stars, having been drafted in the second round of the 2019 NWSL College Draft. Following her stint in Chicago, she honed her skills in Mexico, representing both Chivas de Guadalajara and UANL Tigres Femenil over the course of two years.

Later today, the Dash embark on a two-game road journey as they take on Portland Thorns FC at Providence Park. The match is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. CT, and fans can catch all the action live on ION (TV guide).
