Introducing María Sánchez, the dynamic Mexican-American soccer sensation, now proudly donning the colors of the San Diego Wave Football Club! Renowned for her prowess on the field, María not only graces the Wave with her talent but also brings with her the experience of representing the esteemed Mexico National Team.

In a significant move, the Wave secured María's services from the Houston Dash, demonstrating their commitment to fortifying their roster with top-tier talent. This landmark acquisition involved a substantial investment of $300,000 in transfer funds, supplemented by $200,000 in allocation money. As part of this groundbreaking deal, the Wave also relinquished one of their coveted international player slots to the Dash for the upcoming 2024 and 2025 seasons, underscoring the strategic nature of the trade agreement.

Sánchez, at the youthful age of 28, made her mark on the soccer scene by debuting with the Mexico National Team back in 2015. Her journey into the limelight of women's soccer truly began in 2019, when she was handpicked as the 15th draft selection for the esteemed Chicago Red Stars. From there, she carved her path through Mexico's women's league, showcasing her skills with both C.D. Guadalajara and Tigres Femenil, until her pivotal move to the Dash in 2022.

Hailing originally from America Falls, Idaho, Sánchez's soccer prowess has taken her to some of the biggest stages in the sport. She's left her mark on the field in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the Concacaf W Championship in 2022, the Pan American Games in 2023, and most recently, the Concacaf W Gold Cup in 2024. Her journey is a testament to her talent and dedication to the beautiful game.

Sánchez is set to make his inaugural appearance alongside the Wave this Saturday as the club plays host to Bay FC.
