Prince William paid a heartfelt tribute to his great-grandmother, Princess Alice of Battenberg, during a speech at Holocaust Memorial Day commemorations in London.
The Prince of Wales, accompanied by Princess Kate, delivered his address at The Guildhall, reflecting on the occasion marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
Speaking to an audience that included political leaders like Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, William shared his admiration for Princess Alice, who courageously sheltered Jewish families in Athens during the horrors of World War II.
"I am honored to be here to remember the millions of lives lost during the Holocaust," William said. "On this important anniversary, I was reminded of my great-grandmother, Princess Alice, whose bravery and compassion inspire us all."
The royal couple participated in a candlelighting ceremony alongside young representatives from the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust, symbolizing hope and unity in the face of unimaginable suffering.
Princess Kate, elegant in a tailored black Catherine Walker coat and wide-leg trousers, stood by William as they honored survivors and victims of the Holocaust.
The commemorative service will air on BBC1, offering audiences a poignant reminder of history's lessons and the enduring importance of combating antisemitism and prejudice.
