Disney has changed its plans for the highly anticipated 'Snow White' live-action premiere, opting for a more subdued approach following intense backlash involving its lead stars, Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot.

Disney's Last-Minute Premiere Overhaul

Originally slated for a star-studded global press tour, including extravagant events in Los Angeles and London, the entertainment giant has scaled back its promotional efforts.

According to Variety, the El Capitan Theater event will still take place on Saturday, March 15, but red carpet media interviews have been scrapped. Instead, Disney is opting for a controlled environment, allowing only photographers and a house crew at the event.

Tightly Managed Press Opportunities

Rather than the initial high-profile international tour, Disney has limited its press opportunities to carefully managed events, with one of the most significant now scheduled for Segovia, Spain—a location far removed from the Hollywood media frenzy.

'Anti-Woke' Backlash Against Rachel Zegler

Since Zegler's casting in 2021, the film has been at the center of controversy. Critics have argued that she does not resemble the original 1937 animated Snow White, sparking debate among die-hard fans.

The controversy intensified when Zegler referred to the classic film’s storyline as “dated”, dismissing the traditional love story.

“She’s not going to be saved by the prince,” Zegler told Variety in 2022. “She’s not going to be dreaming about true love. She’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be.”

These comments fueled backlash, with many accusing her of disrespecting the beloved fairytale.
